Dire l’habiter
Galerie Callot, ENSA Paris-Malaquais

How to give substance to the questions and doubts of 41 young architects, landscape architects, and urban planners regarding an issue that has become central: the concept of inhabiting?
Drawing on texts written for the exhibition, each participant was invited to « speak » about housing, filmed in a single continuous three-minute take. Facing the camera with nowhere to hide, the language of expertise falls away, giving way to the « I »—the space where thought takes shape, hesitates, and finds clarity. Thus, the challenge of the continuous shot does more than convey ideas; it reveals a presence, a sensibility—a way of inhabiting a question.
Comprising a diverse range of personalities, this collection creates a generational landscape. A shared vision emerges clearly from it: the existing environment has become the primary material for every project—a vital material. Consequently, the focus on practices, attachments, and vulnerabilities fundamentally shifts the role of the architect, who must now learn to intervene within realities steeped in history, conflict, resources, and life. It is no longer a matter of imposing form upon the world, but of acting from within its very complexity. This generation champions a practice that is situated, social, deeply attentive, and grounded in the long term. It is an architecture of relationship—one that listens, supports, and extends—wholly inseparable from the living beings who inhabit it.
